What it checks
Recognition
“What do you know about this brand?” Counted only when the model says it knows the brand and names it in its answer.
Category lists
“What are the best-known brands in this category?” Counted when the brand appears in the list the model writes on its own.
Website
“What is its official website?” Checked against the website you enter; without one, this question isn't scored.
Questions
How do I check whether ChatGPT knows my brand?
Ask the model without web search, so the answer comes from what it learned in training, not from a search it ran just now. This tool asks the models behind ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini three questions each: what they know about the brand, which brands lead its category, and what its website is.
Why is web search turned off?
With search on, an assistant can find almost any brand that has a website. With it off, you see whether the brand is part of the model's own knowledge, which shapes how it describes and recommends a category before it searches.
How reliable is one check?
It's a snapshot: each question is asked once, and AI answers vary between runs. A model can also claim to know a brand it doesn't, so a brand only counts as recognised when the model names it in its answer, and as listed only when it appears in a category list it wrote without being prompted. Optimz tracks real buyer questions several times a week, with web search on, and shows every rate with a 95% confidence range.
Which models are asked?
The models behind ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, through their APIs, using each provider's fast, low-cost tier. The consumer apps can answer differently: they search the web and remember the conversation.
